Keep Your Spirits Up

Oh keep your spirits up
the hardest thing in life
but easier enough
when I am with my wife

For many issues vow
to put my heart to test
but she will sit me down
and lay my mind to rest

Oh once I was alone
and got along quite well
but everyone needs company
when waning is their well

And easy is it for a lucky
soul such as myself
abundant in good loving
in good times and in good health

So vow to me my son
to always keep your spirits up
for happiness befalls the man
who knows to ride his luck

And though I am content
I know that two is less than three
for one day I will make you
and that day you will make me

Oz's Last Crisis

We gathered at the Rabbit
for Oz's last Crisis
the air was all thickened with glue
It's hard to manoeuver
all dressed up like a hoover
I shuffled and joined in the queue

Is this the end?
now darling this era is through
and tonight come the dawn
our lives will go on
but it won't be the same without you

I've been less and less
recently I confess
I'm growing more boring with age
but I couldn't miss
an occasion like this;
the last time you took to the stage

Is this the end?
now darling this era is through
and tonight come the dawn
our lives will go on
but it won't be the same without you

I'm tired, but so what
I'm dressed like a robot
suppressing the urge to go home
and I think it's a shame
they're not changing the name
now that Carroll will go it alone

Is this the end?
now darling this era is through
and tonight come the dawn
our lives will go on
but it won't be the same without you

Adam We

Frightened and lonely I started of course
Straight off the wagon and back on the horse
A brand new town, a brand new start
and wanting to back out with all of my heart

But horse don't go backwards, no not without force
and my previous life was my choice to divorce
and backwards is foolish, and forward is smart
so harden I did, and to find a new cart

Adam, we struck a chord
both firm and fast
our seat and our standing
were in the same class

Adam, we stayed it out
right to the end
with nothing to grieve on
and nothing to mend

I hated that place that I was before
still run as it was by playground law
and though I approached it a bit apprehensive
this new place appeared somewhat less offensive

There I would learn and there I would grow
There where I found the things I've come to know
In the beginning, lost and alone
We took up sitting and caution was thrown

Adam, we strong
and Adam, we stand
together in building
the lives we had planned

Now Adam, we stagnant
and Adam, we stale
I took a fork
somewhere on the trail

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Oh, friend have patience
be not in haste
Lord, grant you vision
You, so well placed

Sing choir of angels
Lift spirits high
Build to crescendo
The hour is nigh

Up the hill you shall proceed
to the thing you want, you need
Do not lament your lack of pace
Slow and steady wins the race

Search not wi'agression
Let your ego speak
Passive attraction
is not weak

In time you will wait no more
it will soon come through your door
Just relax, enjoy the chase
Slow and steady wins the race

So now have patience
friend, i beseech
Lord, grant you company
Lengthen your reach

And may your days be filled with love
That, friend, you are worthy of
The time will come to play your ace
Slow and steady wins the race

Home (Here in the Westcountry)

Well I've been down to New York
and I've been down to Rome
and I've been down to Chinatown
but none of them felt like home

Well I've been to Barcelona
and seen the stadium
But it's down here this time of year
that I have the most fun

Well I've been down to New York
and I've been down to Rome
and I've been down to Chinatown
but none of them felt like home

So home, that's the place for me
Home, that's where I want to be

I've found my way to the USA
and seen all they have there
well the streets are meaner, the grass isn't greener
so baby why should I care?

Well Paris has its boulevards
and its avenues
Amsterdam is beatiful
Berlin too

But Exeter cathedral
can not be outdone
and oh! the feel in Freedom Fields
in the summer sun

So home, that's the place for me
Home, that's where I want to be

Well all the way from Helston
way on up to Frome
Yeah that's my home

So home, that's the place for me
Home, that's where I want to be

Home, that's the place for me
Yeah home, here in the westcountry

Untitled (Blues Story)

Get yourself a beer or a cup of tea
Get yourself a beer or a large whiskey
I'm gonna bore you with a long long story
Just like Seasick Steve

I always had my mind, always had my health
I always had my strength, always had my health
So sit down, get comfy
I'm gonna tell you about myself

I'm a good man, worked hard all my life
I'm a good man, worked hard all my life
I got me a car
And I got me a wife

Got me a house, got me some kids too
Got me a house, got me some kids too
We always had shelter
Always had food

I loved them, I loved them so
I loved them, I loved them so
Gave them all the love
In the whole wide world

This one time I came home from work
This one time I came home from work
And caught my woman in bed
With another bloke

Well it hurt me down to my core
Well it hurt me down to my core
When she desert me
What a dirty whore

Now my good woman, she's good and dead
Now my good woman, she's good and dead
Well I should know
Because I shot her in the head

Got up this morning, got my ass out of bed
Got up this morning, dragged my ass out of bed
Picked up my revolver
And I pumped that bitch full of lead

(Done got away with it too)

Big Ears smashes down walls

Uptight is the world
Uptight is the world
Well publicly
Society

Uptight is the world
But we all know
Privately
We all go

But big ears smokes in the moonlight
And big ears drinks to the sky
So big ears smashes the walls down
And we get on with our lives

Shocked is the world
By mention of this
It's like the 60s
Didn't exist

But big ears watches the censors
And big ears doesn't know why
So big ears smashes the walls down
And we get on with our lives

Big ears watches her tremble
He's got the lyrical know-how
Unconventionally handsome
She doesn't stand a chance with him now

And now he's pouring a large one
Taking his queues from his hard one
Barely aware of his actions
He is poetic and putrid and foul

Big ears smashes the walls down
The walls that we thought we had knocked down
Big ears smashes the walls down
Big ears smashes the walls down

Big ears smashes the walls down
The walls that we thought had been brought down
Big ears smashes the walls down
Big ears smashes the walls down
